A special thanks to Stirrings for sponsoring today's content and inspiring this delicious cocktail!
I was recently contacted by Stirrings to come up with a unique cocktail recipe with my choice of cocktail mixes. Naturally, I opted for the blood orange (I also have the pomegranate which I will be experimenting with very soon!). I won't lie, my husband helped me come up with this tasty little recipe.
Living in Kentucky, we have been quite accustomed to bourbon drinks and a new-found love for ginger beers. Come to find out, there is a drink that combines the two - it is the Kentucky mule, which is made of bourbon, lime, ginger beer, and garnished with a piece or two of mint. Kentucky Mules are delicious on their own, but my husband thought the Stirrings Blood Orange Martini mix would pair perfectly with this drink...and it did!
After a few taste tests, I (or should I say, "we") have come up with what I think are the perfect ratios to an incredibly smooth and tasty cocktail.
2 oz bourbon
.5 oz lemon juice
2.5 oz Stirrings Simple Blood Orange Martini mix
Add bourbon, lemon juice, and Stirrings mix to a Moscow Mule mug (traditionally used for Kentucky Mules) or highball glass. Add a few cubes of ice and fill your glass with ginger beer.
