Faster & Healthier Meals With The Todd English Air Fryer (PLUS Giveaway!)

This post was created in partnership with Phoenix Trading Company and I received the item free of charge in exchange for my personal opinions.

I will be honest, my semi-crunchy (also referred to some as "chewy") self LOVES easy and convenient fried foods. As we all know, many of which are quite unhealthy. After baby #3 was born, I have been quite lax on what I have been feeding my family, thus reverting from the healthy habits that I was trying so hard to set in place, and I was settling for convenience. You could imagine my surprise when I was asked to try and review the Todd English Air Fryer, one of the many kitchen appliances offered by Phoenix Trading Company!

About The Todd English Air Fryer

This appliance fries, bakes, and grills food using superheated air, thus giving you the taste without the high calories from traditional frying and shorter cook time. Besides the health concerns of deep frying in vegetable oils, with this air fryer I was able to use coconut oil and grapeseed oil (both of which have high smoke points) without the large expense and waste. When my husband and I prepared foods with our traditional fryer, we would only use the container of oil a couple to a few times depending on what we fried with it before tossing it.

In addition to the air fryer, I also received the In the Kitchen "Air Fryer Cookbook" by Allison Waggoner. My 6 & 7 year old were with me when I first flipped through the book, and when we came across the Mozzarella Cheesesticks Recipe, they begged me to make it for them. I was surprised at how quick and easy they were to make and my kids loved helping to make them to, because I would not let them use our conventional fryer which could result in serious burns, while the Todd English Air Fryer is warm to the touch on the outside (Note : appliance should still be used with caution as any food  with a lot of moisture can result in hot steam and inner parts can burn, so please do not let your young children operate alone).

We were amazed at  how delicious that they turned out, and we have made them a few times since using the air fryer. The recipe only called for six ingredients (string cheese sticks, 2 eggs, 2 cups Italian seasoned breadcrumbs, 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese, 1/2 cup flour, and oil) and took just a few minutes to prepare after the initial freezing step of freezing the cheesesticks before hand, and only 8 minutes of actual baking time. I did substitute grapeseed oil for the canola oil and froze the cheesesticks overnight versus an hour. I have also gotten creative and made the recipe with habanero cheddar and jalapeƱo jack cheesesticks - which were delicious!

The finished product did not turn out as crispy and greasy as any fried cheesesticks that you would find at a pub or restaurant, but I could have easily sprayed them with more oil if I had wanted to.

As previously mentioned, you can also bake with this air fryer. One night, my kids wanted some fries to go with their fish burgers and broccoli. I happened to have some frozen fries (the cookbook does include recipes for making your own) and in just 10 minutes, they had warm and crispy seasoned fries which normally take over twice as long!

I also decided to try out the silicone baking cups that the air fryer came with and used my chocolate coconut cake recipe for breakfast muffins. Without pre-heating the air fryer, the muffins took only 15 minutes versus the 25-30 minutes in the oven, which is very convenient during this hot and humid summer weather, because the last thing that I want to do in the house is spend time baking in a hot kitchen. This air fryer is incredibly convenient and versatile, and you can make anything from fried chicken to omelets in it. I have seriously replaced three of my kitchen appliances with this space efficient air fryer.

I would like to take a moment to familiarize you with the incredible company that allowed me to share the Todd English Air Fryer with you. Many times when making any sort of purchase we do not really consider who we are buying from and look only at the price tag.

  1. I've been hearing a lot about air fryers, but I've never actually tried one before. I think the idea is ingenious really.

  2. I've been counting calories for about a year now, so I try to avoid unhealthy food most of the time. However, I've found that some of my favorite foods I need to have at least occasionally to avoid fixating on them and then over-indulging. Air frying seems like a great way to do that occasional indulgence in a slightly heathier way.

  16. This...is so cool!!! Air frying?! Wow! I would love to make french fries! I shy away from making them now because of the oil, I fear heating it on my stove and with small children around...plus the calories. This looks amazing!
