Little Bee Co. Sponsor Spotlight & Bee Changed One-Size Cloth Diaper Review & Giveaway - #LoveAppalachia

Thank you Little Bee Co. for participating in the Fall 2012 Cloth Diaper Dive Giveaway & Fundraiser Event!

I had been first introduced to the Little Bee Co. quite a while ago from a Facebook friend who is a missionary that has traveled to Ethiopia and was quite touched by their mission. Of course, the customer service is beyond amazing and I enjoyed my handwritten "thank you" note from Jona, the owner.

My first purchase from the Little Bee Co. did not include diapers, but it was a beautiful Tukula bag, which is handmade in Jinja, Uganda exclusively for the Little Bee Co. The women that make these bags make receive a profit in order to support their families. I can't tell you how many times this beautiful bag has been the topic of conversation, and doubles as the perfect on-the-go diaper bag.

It was after a large diaper de-stash, and my son's decision to move a step back in the potty training process, that I turned to the Little Bee Co. to make my first diaper purchase. Not only does this company offer quality brightly colored diapers, but the Little Bee Co. is all about making a difference in the world and changing it for the better.

For each diaper purchased, one is donated to an orphan in need. To view some of the places around the world that the Little Bee Co. has impacted, click here. In fact, each color or print represents a country of a child in need, most of which who are currently living in orphanages wearing nothing but tattered rags and plastic bags around their waist if they were fortunate.

I chose to purchase the Mexican Sol diaper (along with the African Rain) a few months back, not only to represent my Hispanic heritage, but also to remember to pray for the 1.9 million sweet children living in poverty in Mexico. You truly do feel blessed changing your little ones with these diapers.

Diaper Features :

* One-size, adjustable to fit 8-35 lbs (newborn size diapers also available) with 3 rise settings.

* Choice of 3 interior linings : microsuede, bamboo fleece, & "Ultra Cool" 100% bamboo/organic cotton blend.

* Waterproof PUL outer, no cover needed.

* "Wrap & Go" feature - cross-over snaps for mess-free diaper storage and to create a tighter fit for slender waists.

* Leak guard front elastic

* Comes with 2 microfiber inserts or hemp/organic cotton blend

What I Love About This Diaper

The Bee Changed diapers offer a nice snug fit around waist and legs, so there are never any gaps between the diaper and my child's skin that would allow wetness or solids to escape. This feature is very important since my "Leettle" is quite active and he has experienced leaks with other diapers when they did not fit well.

As you can see, Leettle is wearing his Bee Changed diaper on the second rise setting and second to last waist setting. He weighs about 30 lbs, and still has plenty of room to spare before he decides that he is ready to potty train.

Another feature that I love about this diaper is the double micro insert set that each diaper comes with. The smaller insert is hourglass shaped and can be snapped to the larger insert. My boys always needed at least two inserts for their pocket diapers, and it seemed like the more padding that was added, the more the diaper pulled away from the leg area, causing the "gaps" that had I described above. The hourglass shape prevents that from happening.

Now, let me discuss the inner lining. I am a fan of the natural fiber materials, so I have quite a few bamboo lined diapers from other brands, but none compare to the softness of the bamboo Bee Changed diaper. The bamboo fleece is incredibly soft and does not become stiff & scratchy from air drying.

I could honestly say that there is nothing that I do not like about this diaper and I have very few complaints. The bamboo fabric is pretty thick, so it takes a while longer to air dry versus those made with microsuede. However, this is not a big deal since I tend to dry them on low heat for about 10-15 mins to fluff them up a bit after a night of hang drying, which seems to help dry the bamboo lining quicker.

The Bee Changed diapers tend to be a little puffy, but this issue has no effect on how Leettle's pants fit when wearing these diapers. The "puffiness" might have to do with the elastic style of the waist and legs, but that design also attributes to the awesome leak protection. My boys are tummy sleepers, so I struggled to find the perfect pocket that could be used during night time that did not leak from the top...and the Bee Changed diaper is it!

The Little Bee Co. is now a part of the Bee ONE Foundation, which is a private foundation that educates, empowers moms & young women, organizes giving trips, is an advocacy for the oppressed, and offers opportunities to perform acts of kindness and so much more.
