Sponsor Spotlight Tinkle Tinkle Toot - Green Toys™ Planting Kit Review #FallGreen

Fall into Green

I had the honor of meeting one of my Fall Into Green sponsors a few days back, since she lives in my home town. Anita and her family run the online store Tinkle Tinkle Toot that specializes in all things "green" and mostly USA made. You can read more about Anita and her family here.

Tinkle Tinkle Toot offers a variety of eco-friendly products for the family and home, such as cloth diapers, toys, clothing accessories, nursing covers, re-usable sandwich bags, and MUCH more!

For this giveaway, Anita graciously gave me a Green Toys™ planting kit for me and another for one of my blog readers.

What I Love About This Product

As most of you may know, my family has found a new passion for chemical-free gardening and by doing so, we are making gradual steps to self-sustainment and living a more eco-friendly lifestyle.

This kit is packaged using only recycled and recyclable materials and printed with soy inks. U.S.A made, it comes with a 100% recycled plastic (to reduce greenhouse gas emissions) pot, package of organic Teddy Bear variety sunflower seeds (dont' worry, they are miniature!), soil disk, and easy to follow instructions. No BPA, PVC, phthalates, or external coatings. The pot can also be re-used and is dishwasher safe!

The Green Toys™ Indoor planting kit is a fun and easy way to spark interest of gardening for a young child, or adult!

My oldest had planted sunflowers (his favorite plant) earlier this year in one of our many garden beds, so he was thrilled to plant another that he could keep indoors all winter long!

Although the recommended age for this product is 5 and older, my 3 year old was able to do it himself with a little help from me.

The steps are this simple:

1. Place the unwrapped soil disk in the pot

2. Pour 1 cup of water on top

3. Wait 30 minutes for the disk to dissolve (since my Lil' Man is quite impatient and is only now grasping the concept of time, we started at 8 pm and told him that when our digital clock read 8:30 pm, it was time for the next step)

4. Turn the soil over with a fork or spoon

5. Open the seed packet and place the seeds 1/2 inch into the soil and cover with the dirt. I made holes in the dirt for little man so that he would not place them too deep or shallow.

And now for the hard part...we wait! Lil' Man checks this pot every few hours to see if his seeds have sprouted. In our experience, Teddy Bear Sunflowers take a few days to sprout.

That's it! Now just make sure that the plant gets adequate sunlight and water. Not only did we love the bonding time that we had planting these seeds and discussing how plants grow and what they need to survive, but my 3 year old looks forward to the new found responsibility that he has making sure that he helps his sunflowers grow!

Thank you Anita for providing this awesome gift for my giveaway! Be sure to connect with her on the Tinkle Tinkle Toot Facebook page for links to wonderful green and healthy living tips, article shares, and more!
