Sponsor Spotlight - Baby Babu One-Size Diaper #ClothDiaperHop

Let me introduce you to the crown jewels of my children's cloth diaper collection.

I was recently sent this Alien Life Form diaper by Hope and Joe Chanda, the owners of Baby Babu. Their company is based in Melbourne, Florida and let me tell you...no company that I have worked with has been as quick, informative, and gracious as these two!

At first glance, these diapers feel quite sturdy and looked quite trimmer than my boy's other pocket diapers. As you can see from the pictures below, each Baby Babu diaper has 3 button snaps on each diaper wing (two on top and one "hip" snap) to ensure a secure, but comfortable fit to avoid that dreaded wing droop. Like most pocket diapers, the outer material consists of a waterproof PUL (polyurethane laminate) and a polyester microsuede inner.

Each diaper also comes with one snap-in 3 layer microfiber insert. The Chanda's sent me two for the review and I would highly recommend using more than one insert if you have a heavy wetter or for nighttime use.

The embroidered alien on the diaper was an immediate hit with my youngest child who is obsessed with these creatures. At first I was a little worried that the threading on the exterior would allow wetness to escape, but the sewn applique is fully covered by the PUL on the inside. I honestly loved this diaper so much, that I quickly bought another...

What I Love About These Diapers

Simplicity!

Perhaps my favorite feature of these diapers (besides the adorable designs) is the fact that I can just throw the entire diaper in the wash without having to worry about pulling out the inserts. The two openings in the front and back of the diaper allow the water and soap to flow through to thoroughly wash the diaper and insert. This makes diaper changing very easy for sitters and my husband, who no longer has to hear me nag about the importance of removing the diaper stuffing prior to putting the dirty diaper in the diaper pail.

It's A Pocket!

The pocket diaper style has always been my favorite. Not only is it trim, but you are in control of the diaper's absorbency. I was also quite happy to discover that all of my various name brand inserts fit in this diaper and even my boy's cotton pre-folds fit inside!

So, you get the best of both worlds, the convenience of the All-In-One style diaper (only having to wash one piece) and the customization(to add as much absorbency as needed) of the pocket diaper.

It's One-Size (also referred to as OS)

David wearing the "Alien Life Form". He is in the process of potty training, so he felt quite upset that I took a picture of him in a diaper.

This diaper adjusts (by snapping up or unsnapping the front rise snaps) to it a baby from about 8 to 35 lbs or more, so basically from birth until potty training. Even though I did not have the opportunity to try this diaper on a baby that weighed 8 lbs or less, I do not doubt that this diaper could fit a newborn. These diapers are slimmer (around the waist and legs)than all of my kid's various pocket diapers, but not too tight that they would result in leaving red marks on my children's legs - even on my chunky Leettle!

No huge leg gaps for this active baby!

Double Gussets

This feature is perfect for those quick wetting and, to put it delicately, "messier" babies. With many diaper brands, the leg openings is an issue for my oldest, who is quite slender (and lactose intolerant...I will spare the nasty details), which do not fit snug enough, even when using the smaller rise settings. He is also quite active, so he has had a number of leakage problems simply by rolling around on the floor. The double gussets take care of all of that!

I can honestly say that there is nothing that I had disliked about this diaper. Of course, on it's own, the one microfiber insert did not cut it for night time use for either of my boys (but worked well for daytime use). When paired with the ultra-thin, but highly absorbent 4-layer bamboo insert (which I slipped in underneath the snap-in microfiber), neither of my boys woke up in wet pajamas.

Overall, I would highly recommend this diaper to any cloth diapering parent or parent considering cloth.
